It's only Tuesday?
Boo. I'm already exhausted.

Anyway, we had Tekko 1/2 on Saturday. It was awesome 'cause the whole thing was experimental this year. This was the first year we weren't at the library in Oakland, the first year we charged a bit for admission, the first year we brought in guests, the first time we worked with some of our guests (and the dj, thanks John), and a first leadership experience for many of our new DHs. We tested a new game show and experimented with food and glowstick sales.

All in all, it was a huge success! We met some great people, we sold a TON of pre-regs, easily outdoing past 1/2s, the t-shirts were awesome, the certificates, programs, and signage looked great, and I got to sing Love Machine. XD Our new folks dealt with a lot of challenges with little to no intervention, the attendees really seemed to have a great time, and the only real downfall for me was that I got sick at the end of the day. =( (Well, I was previously sick, but I threw up at the end of the day, which drove the point home.)

Bug regardless, I have been busy pretty much nonstop - cleaning on Sunday, up for work early on Monday, staff meeting this morning, came home and cleaned more... This weekend, we have the Heart Walk on Saturday and then I'm leaving for Philly on Sunday, coming back Monday... and then Jim has to go to Boston at some point next week, don't know when. And next weekend is Steel City Con.

Ahh, sleep, how I miss thee. ^^;

I wonder if my white glowstick is still any good? I had a white glowstick and an orange glowstick in my hair Saturday night and last night the white one was STILL GLOWING. Dood.

You know, as busy as life is, I am getting all hyped up over the whole "fall" thing. I wanna go get a pumpkin. And drink some hot apple cider. And go to a corn maze (hopefully without panicking lost children). And eat cinnamon donuts! And pumpkin curry! (Maybe not all at once!)

Put the glowsticks in the freezer. This will slow the reaction and make them last longer.

I think.

They're aaaall gone now.

But yeah, the white one was still glowing last night! I was impressed!

I don't think we'll be getting rid of badges per se, as having a badge as a keepsake is important to a lot of people and badges help us see who's an attendee/guest/vendor/minion/staff member quickly, but we have talked about a number of uses for wristbands. So you may see them again. =)

I was sad not to see you there for karaoke. =( Hopefully next time around we'll get a full schedule online. But I am very glad to hear you enjoyed yourself, and I can't wait 'til I get to hear you sing again!

I don't know if we're going to carve pumpkins, but I do know I want to go get one. The cooking club at school made pumpkin cookies yesterday and it totally put me in a fall mood. =)

Considering there were plenty of changes in both the staff and the setup at Tekko 1/2, I'm sure people were a bit nervous as to how things would work out... But from what I've heard from you and other people as well, Tekko 1/2 went great. I hope that things continue that way and Tekko 7 turns out great as well.
Well, good luck with other the work you have ahead of you.
There's not much of a fall to speak of where I now live in Southern Arizona... the seasons are basically summer, summer, summer, and more summer. But I still manage to enjoy Halloween around here. Even though I'm too old to be trick-or-treating, I always dress up when I hand out candy.

Tekko 1/2 really did go awesomely! :3

Also, I'm excited for Fall too! It means awesomeness of Halloween!

*nods* Halloween is great, with hayrides and corn mazes and pumpkin patches and haunted houses and everything! And after Halloween is over we get THANKSGIVING. Turkey and stuffing and all kinds of yummies NOM NOM NOM I am SO excited.

And in between is my birthday. XD

Thanks for the awesome wishes. Things have changed a bit this year, but looking back, Tekko has always been changing and growing, so I look forward to seeing where this year leads us.

We miss you! Pretty soon we'll be demanding that you send some of your nice warm weather up here, but for now the novelty and fun of the season change hasn't worn off yet. *g* It's awesome that you dress up for Halloween -- I missed most of the trick-or-treaters last year 'cause I worked late but I'm looking forward to handing out candy (and I'm also looking forward to the November 1 Candy Clearance).

I went to go see a pumpkin carving exhibit in Chelsea earlier this week. It was less awesome than expected.

BUT.

The building it was housed in, Chelsea Market, is where the Oreo cookie was invented.

God, I have missed the internet. Where else would I learn this stuff?
